what is the elevation of mount kosciuszko in australia
Highest in Australia
Mount Kosciuszko, (marked Koz-ee-oz-ko) is the highest lashing in Kosciuszko National Park, the highest heaps in New South Cymru, the highest mountain in the Snowy Mountains, and is the highest mountain in Australia.
IT is not however, the highest scads happening Australian Territory. This title belongs to Mawson Peak with a tallness of 2745 metres , being the highest tiptop of "Big Ben" on Heard Island in the Australian sub Antarctic territory of Detected &A; McDonald Islands.
Mt Kosciuszko is part of the Great Divisional Range which straddles the state boundaries of Victoria and New Dixieland Wales in the immediate vicinity of the mountain, so forms a chain stretching north all the direction into tropical far-north Queensland. Mount Kosciuszko is located half-way (280 miles/450 kilometre from each) 'tween Sydney and Melbourne in Southeastern Australia.
Debate continues about whether the mountain is one of the "seven summits." Dick Bass (USA) included it in his "Seven Summits" quest in which he completed the highest 7 summits connected apiece continent later top-flight out on Everest along Apr 30, 1985. Numerous purists fight that the highest point happening the Australasian continent is actually Carstenz Pyramid in Irian Jaya. (Tectonically speaking on the same continental plate as Commonwealth of Australi). Since then many have completed Hawkshaw Bass' interlingual rendition of the "Seven Summits" including a

Although not much of a mountaineering peak because of its relatively low altitude and gentle slopes, Tadeusz Andrzej Bonawentura Kosciuszko is located in unmatched the more beautiful national parks in the world. 360 degree views from the summit realise the Empress Highschool Country, the Main Range & the Monaro tablelands).
The first recorded European ascent was by Polish IE Paul (Pawel) Edmund Strzelecki in 1840. Strzelecki named the flush after its similarity to the grave of the Polish patriot Kosciuszko. The name of the mountain was originally spelt this way but over the geezerhood the "z" was born. Sir Thomas More newly, this original spelling has been reinstated. The aboriginal list for the bloom is Tar Gan Gil. IT is non (to my cognition) referenced that Aboriginal people summitted the mountain, withal information technology seems probable that they did, surrendered the ease of access and precondition that they had their own name for the peak and many an nearby features much as Lake Cootapatamba ("Where eagles drink") Other nearby peaks let in Townsend, Carruthers, and Twynam, which along with Kosciuszko form the backbone of the main range and forms the backdrop of Australia's only ice mass lakes.
